You will have a greater chance of success if you attend a structured obedience class before your puppy reaches 6 months (4 months for certain breeds).

Puppy Basics – At the River Ridge Training Room, a 30-minute session scheduled for puppies under 16 weeks of age.   Description:   This is a chance to talk to a professional about any behavior or training topics you can think of.   You are welcome to bring your kids. I have articles to help with common puppy problems like nipping, housebreaking, chewing, and jumping.  Prerequisites:  2 sets of puppy shots and Bordetella (kennel cough)  FREE for River Ridge Clients ($30 for outside clients)

PUPPY CLASS 

5:00-6:00 or 6:00-7:00      Class limit 4 puppies (10-20 weeks of age)  Description:  We review skills that build a solid foundation that lasts a lifetime, i.e., how to get your pup’s attention, sit, down, stay, and polite greetings.  We tackle common “problem” puppy behaviors like jumping, nipping, and mouthing, as well as begin teaching loose-leash walking and imprinting a recall. Our puppy class focuses on how to build basic obedience skills and age-appropriate behaviors in a fun, relaxed environment. We build a core set of skills that every puppy needs to be a happy, well-behaved dog.  Prerequisites: 2 sets of puppy shots and Bordatella (kennel cough)

Family Dog Obedience

6:00-7:00 p.m. Puppies and adolescent dogs 4-18 months. Any dog over 12 months of age will be evaluated before attending class. Aggression issues are handled individually. Description:  This class is for puppies and dogs that have had limited training and exposure.  Most dogs learn quickly at this age so we provide new exercises to keep the dogs engaged.  Our tier training method ensures that even an intermediate student will be challenged. We continue to change exercises to customize your training experience. You can start ANY Tuesday after the orientation.  Prerequisites:  Bordetella, 1 or 3 year Rabies and DHPP. Orientation before class.

Advanced/Intermediate Class

7:00-8:00 p.m.  If you are an experienced handler, you can join this class with any age dog. Description:  This class is for experienced students only.  We keep it fun, educational, and challenging.  In addition to maintaining excellent obedience skills we also offer off leash training AND a variety of fun exercises that include:  Rally Obedience, Agility skills, and Therapy Dog evaluations.  Prerequisites:  Bordetella, 1 or 3 year Rabies and DHPP.

$150 new students (8 weeks)                                $150 continuing students  (12 weeks)

DROP IN RATE IS $25 PER CLASS

Private Dog Coaching-young dogs: Private one-on-one instruction customized to meet your individual needs. You will learn how to effectively communicate with your dog and solve basic behavior problems like jumping, housebreaking, barking, and nipping. After on-leash skills are mastered, you will learn how to control your dog with hand signals and how to work through distractions.  I can come to your house or we can meet at one of my facilities, a store, or a park. We can meet once or several times. I have changed the dynamic of a household in one hour. If I can’t help you, I will refer you another professional trainer.   Call 815-590-8008.  Prerequisites: Non-aggressive to humans/dogs  $50/hr.   

Private Dog Coaching-Dogs with issues, pack issues, bite offenses, etc.:  Before scheduling, I take a brief history and often contact your Veterinarian (with permission).  If I can’t help you, I will refer you another professional trainer.  Call 815-590-8008.  Prerequisites: Prescreening  $100/hr.
